The Women in Leadership seminar series is designed to inspire diversity and change in women in leadership roles. This year's seminar was a sold out event and provided participants with contemporary and relevant career advice from five very inspiring women. By presenting views from successful people at different points on their career journey the session provided advice that was contemporary and relevant to the various career stages.

PwC Partner, Stephanie Allen, provided insights into working in a male dominated industry and the 'ladders of success' for women including; personal and professional opportunities, different perspectives, technology and flexibility.

Stephanie commentated, "Females are great at building trust and sustainable relationships, but you must also be professional and prioritise [your work/life commitments].”

IPAA WA’s 2013 Achievement Awards Young Leader of The Year, Kaylene Gulich discussed the importance of her 5 year plan in achieving goals and said “I lock myself into doing something by telling lots of people about it.”

CEO of Tourism WA, Stephanie Buckland gave a personal account of her time growing up in Pennsylvania US, and the different working culture in Australia. “Australian businesses are a lot more innovative and encourage you to take risks.”

Keynote speaker and the first female editor of an Australian newspaper, Michelle Gratton AO was a highlight presentation for many in the audience. The candid conversation between Ms Gratton and Ms Sue McCarrey provided audiences with a personal insight into Ms Gratton’s experiences in journalism. She also reinforced key messages from the other presenters about obtaining a mentor, support network, education and stepping outside of your comfort zones.

In accordance with the Institute's new gift policy, all presenters received a donation gift to the Red Cross Typhoon Appeal.
