Young Professional Scholarship

The Young Professional Scholarship is awarded annually to one Young Professional (YP) Member (Personal or Associate) and provides the opportunity to attend the Institute’s National Conference.

The Scholarship

The scholarship traditionally provides the winner with return economy flights from Perth and full conference registration fee and is valued at up to $2,000*. The 2017 IPAA National conference will be held in Canberra, ACT on 14th & 15th November at the Great Hall – Parliament House.

The IPAA National Conference

The Institute of Public Administration Australia's 2017 National Conference will explore the theme Thinking Differently - Building Trust.

How to Apply

Application is on a self-nomination basis and requires:

  • submission of a current resume including current position and contact details; and
  • submission of a paper (max 400 words) outlining why you would like to attend the 2017 National Conference, and detailing how it will aid your professional development and career in the public service.

Winner Requirements

Each winner will be required to complete a brief report on their experience at the Conference. This will be published on the Institute’s website and you may also be required to make a short presentation at a future Young Professional’s event or the Institute's AGM.

Judging

Applications will be reviewed** by a panel and the winner will be notified by email and announced on the Institute’s website on 8 September 2017.

Eligibility & Closing Date

To be eligible to apply you must be aged 35 years and under, and be a current Young Professional (YP) - Associate or Personal Member.**

Emailed applications for the competition must be received by the Institute no later than 5:00pm on Friday, 25 August 2017. Email your application to yohan.fernando@ipaawa.org.au with 'YP Scholarship' in the subject field.

Competition Conditions

*Prize is not redeemable for cash, is not transferable or exchangeable. Cost of airfare is determined by IPAA WA. 
** The panel’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the panel’s decisions. The panel reserves the right not to award the scholarship. The competition is open to all current financial (paid) YP Members. This excludes Complimentary Young Professional Memberships provided as part of benefit to Corporate Members.
