This course is designed for those with an interest in the benefits of mindfulness in enhancing their personal leadership, cultivating the qualities for effectiveness and becoming more focussed and calm in managing the demands of working life.

Fulfilling our potential to make a difference in the world requires the cultivation of emotional intelligence and relational skills that complement our technical skills and knowledge. At the same time the pace of work, rapidly changing organisational contexts and the demands of multi-tasking can challenge our ability to think clearly and act wisely. This course brings together the research on leadership, influence and self-mastery and the practical wisdom of mindfulness, emotional intelligence and positive psychology to enhance effectiveness and wellbeing. 

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding the benefits of mindfulness for personal wellbeing and interpersonal relationships in the workplace
  • Levels of personal leadership consciousness and the link to emotional intelligence and self-mastery
  • The steps for becoming consciously skilled
  • Managing the stresses of information overload, unwanted distractions and the pace of change
  • Leading and influencing others with open minds, open hearts and open will
  • Cultivating the five types of mindfulness that strengthen relational skills, self-mastery and influence
  • Grounding practices of a calm mind and caring attitude. 

Course Outcomes

After completing this program, participants will:

  • Understand how mindfulness practices can help to cultivate greater self-awareness and self-mastery in relating and influencing others
  • Have learnt mindful ways to skilfully communicate and work with others in accomplishing purposeful goals and to manage change and transition
  • Be able to use meditation practices to calm the mind and manage work stress and unwanted distractions.
